These private workshops are designed for couples, families, or close friends who want to plan ahead together. The experience brings together all aspects of Advance Serious Illness Planning — helping each participant clarify their own values and preferences for care, while also gaining a deeper understanding of the wishes of the people they love.
The goal is to ensure that everyone involved feels informed, aligned, and confident — not only about their own plans, but about how to advocate for one another if a serious illness ever occurs.
The Advance Serious Illness Planning (ASIP) process is a comprehensive, values-based approach that helps participants:
Reflect on what matters most in the event of serious illness
Understand key healthcare and personal care decisions, grounded in real-world clinical experience
Clarify how legal and financial planning supports can protect assets and reduce stress or conflict among loved ones
Create a clear, coordinated plan to guide decision-makers and medical teams
Each private ASIP workshop is customized to reflect the people planning together.
In the first two hour session, everyone comes together for a guided conversation led by a Plan Well Guide Navigator. We focus on the most important ASIP topics, creating space for shared learning, thoughtful discussion, and questions — while respecting that each person brings different experiences, readiness, and priorities.
Between sessions, participants complete their own individual plans online at a pace that works for them, reflecting on what they’ve learned and what feels right for their situation.
In the follow-up 90 minute session, the group reconvenes to review completed plans, clarify any outstanding questions, and deepen understanding.
By the end of the process, participants not only have clear plans in place, but also a stronger understanding of one another’s wishes — so they feel prepared to speak up and advocate for each other if needed.
All private workshops are held live on Zoom— with in-person options available in the Greater Vancouver area — and are scheduled around your group’s availability.

Not at all. You’ll just need to be comfortable using the basic functions of Zoom, such as joining a meeting and turning your camera or microphone on and off. For those doing the step-by-step option, your Navigator will walk you through logging into the Plan Well Guide system and guide you step-by-step through each part of the online Guides. Some participants find it helpful to use two devices—one for Zoom and one for the Plan Well Guide platform—but this is entirely optional.
